1. Chris Smith - Head Coach


Chris has been coaching for over 30 years starting his career at Teddington CC as a player and coach. He has coached at many schools, both as a coach and qualified teacher. These have included being a retained coach, a Chance To Shine Community Coach or with a number of specialist coaching companies. Notably he was in charge of Cricket at Feltonfleet School in Cobham where he was highly involved in the schools first ever sports tour to play cricket in South Africa, as well as coaching Surrey School Cup finalist and winning sides and then running their Academy between 2008 & 2015.

Chris has had a long connection with Surrey Cricket as a Performance Coach, working with Regional and District U10-U15 Squads, managing other representative teams. He was also a year round coach with the Surrey Under 11 County Age Group from 1995-2007, where he had the chance to work with a number of current Surrey and England stars. He is also a Development Coach, running the Pride of Lions Cobham centre courses for over 10 winters. A member of the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship Management Group he is strategic lead for U8 & U9 age groups.

At National level, Chris has been a member of the England Schools Cricket Association Strategic Development team and is also a member of the England Cricket Board's team of Coach Tutors. This role sees him work with many coaches, particularly in Surrey, teaching them, mentoring then and assessing them!

Chris has been involved in a number of junior start up clubs including West End Esher, East Horsley as well as coaching at more established clubs such as Teddington, Ripley and most recently Horsley and Send CC. He was at the latter, a large 300 player Surrey Championship Club between 2008 and 2019 in many capacities including Head Coach, Development Officer and Chair Cricket. He joined Pirbright CC in 2019 to launch the new Youth section and brings with him a number of high class coaches with whom he has worked for many years.
